Over 46174 children having developmental
problem including 29.8% of them having physical impairment, 70.2% of them
having other type of developmental problems thereof 56.2% are having congenital
and 43.8% are having acquired developmental problem in Mongolia. The congenital
developmental defect, which is the reason of neonatal mortality, rate was 2.3%
by 1997 yet it increased up to 12.4% by 2007
Lack of discovering study of risk factors
which can influence in heart defect and determining study of heart defect case,
death-rate kinematics, tendency and perspective are not done yet.
Our purpose is to study the congenital heart
defect rate, trend, perspective, and some risk factors which influence to
develop heart defect that existing among Mongolian children.
In descriptive study, information about
some people, who are died from congenital heart defect between 1998-2008 and
others, who diagnosed in ambulatory and was hospitalized with congenital heart
defect between 2004-2008 and the data about their ages, sex, residency, was
received from statistic information service, National Health Development
Center. Also morbidity and mortality rate and demographic data were specified
into city and country to use in study.
The monthly news about content of Sulfuric
gas and ammonium dioxide of air in 2008 was obtained from the air quality
service, Ministry of Environment and Tourism and was used in this study.
Case
control study was obtained
in Ulaanbaatar city, between December 1, 2009 and February, 2010. Face to face
meeting with corresponded children in selection criteria and their parents, and
then specially informed consent form was presented to the parents/guardian of
each participant and signed. Finally, information was collected by previously
designed questionnaire. This questionnaire consists of eighty closed and
semi-open questions about working and living environment, parents’ harmful
habits, food consumption and process of pregnancy.
In the latest decade statistic result has
shown us that the congenital heart defect related death is leading cause of
mortality of congenital developmental defect among population. For instance, in
1998 heart defect death was 30, in 2004 it was increased to 68, and 2008 it
increased up to 125.
In case of region people who were undergoing
treatment in hospital with congenital heart defect, 54.61% were in Ulaanbaatar,
17.63% were in west, 16.31% were in Khangai, 8.18% were in center and 3.27%
were in east region. Thus people who were undergoing treatment in hospital are
higher in Ulaanbaatar than other region. Considering the treatment result that
who were undergoing treatment in hospital not more than 10% were recovered or
improved and over 90% were in a same position. This result shown us that
congenital heart defect has less chance to recover completely.
As seen trend of mortality rate of
congenital heart defect, in past decade it has a tendency to increase
continuously and compare with rate of 2008; it will increase by 25% in
2012.
As seen trend of congenital heart defect
death rate in past decade it has a tendency to increase continuously and
compare with rate of 2008, it will increase by 25% in 2012. Congenital heart
defect is common among women and sickness and death rate is higher in
Ulaanbaatar than other regions. Congenital heart defect death is directly
depending on air pollution especially sulfuric gas content of air.
The main risk factors of are mother chemical
factor of during pregnant, parents have congenital defect in their gene, lack
of use in ferrum in during pregnant also accidentally get pregnant.
